SPD IS TAKING THE PLUNGE FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS BC

On Sunday, February 19th, 2023, members of the Saanich Police Department will brave the cold Pacific waters in this annual tradition to help raise funds for the talented athletes with Special Olympics BC.

This year the event will be held at Cadboro-Gyro Park in Saanich, with registration opening at 9:30 a.m. and a plunge time of 11 am sharp. SPD’s team, named the Chinooks, is made up of currently serving and retired police officers, reserve constables, family and friends.

If you can’t make the event Sunday, you can still participate. From February 18 to March 5, people all over BC can participate in the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics BC. Supporters can choose to get chilly at an in-person event or get cold and creative at home.

The Polar Plunge for 2023 will play a vital role in rebuilding Special Olympics BC’s empowering sport, youth and health programs. The event is staged in partnership with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for SOBC. Every year, thousands of people get bold and cold at events around the world.

Everyone is welcome, and we look forward to seeing you there on Sunday!
