On August 13, 2025, Kaspar Handspiker, the man charged in connection with the April 25, 2017, machete attack and robbery that occurred in a home in the 2500 block of Esplanade Road in Oak Bay, plead guilty to charges of aggravated assault and break and enter to commit an indictable offense. The plea follows an exhaustive investigation conducted by Saanich Police’s Major Crime Unit and multiple partner agencies.
