On January 5, 2026, the Saanich Police Major Crime Unit began investigating a suspicious death that occurred inside a residence in the 1600 block of Blair Avenue.
The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) has now assumed conduct of the investigation, and the public should expect a sustained police presence in the area while detectives continue their work.
One individual is currently in custody in connection to this matter. At this time, we believe this was an isolated incident, and there is no indication that anyone else is outstanding.
